Diplôme National du Brevet, Mention Internationale

The Diplôme national du brevet is a French state qualification taken in Troisième (Year 10), at the end of compulsory schooling in France. This involves pupils taking written examinations in French, mathematics and history-geography in French. In addition, British Section pupils sit oral examinations in English language and literature and history-geography in English in order to gain the Mention Internationale.

International General Certificate of Secondary Education

British Section pupils take IGCSE examinations in First Language English at the end of Seconde (Year 11). Some pupils also opt to take an International GCSE in mathematics for which they prepare with a private tutor to complement the French national curriculum for mathematics. The British Section is registered with two UK examination boards: Cambridge International Education and Edexcel. See below for our latest results.

Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), British version

The Baccalauréat Français International - BFI - formerly the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) - is the school-leaving qualification taken by British Section students. The unique feature of the BFI is that A-Level style examinations in English Language and Literature and History/Geography are added to the full syllabus of the traditional French Baccalauréat, and the results of these examinations are factored, with high weightings (coéfficients), into the student's overall mark. Results are expressed as a mark out of twenty, with the highest commendation - Mention Très Bien - being awarded to students achieving an average mark of 16/20 and above. Each year, we celebrate our students' success in a graduation ceremony: la cérémonie de remise des diplômes. It is a remarkable occasion and a wonderful reflection of the diversity that permeates the Lycée International.
More information about this pioneering bilingual diploma can be found in the Qualification Information Profile published by UCAS. You can also find our most recent results below. Over sixty schools worldwide offer the British version of the BFI and all are members of ASIBA. See below for more information.
